When I attended Mass at my local parish, as a single woman, I literally had to introduce myself every single week to the priest who would politely say hello, then look past me and call out, "Hey, Joanne and Frank, how're the kids?" The other level of ignoring women is ignoring women who aren't surrounded by their offspring.

I continue to look for a community that recognizes me as an individual who has value. So far, haven't found it.
