This story is beyond disturbing (and thank you for shedding light on it) because of the part about the TikTok crowd mocking young people who've made no mistake but to be born where they are, where they are horribly exploited.
It's a spiritual problem, it's a personality problem, and definitely a social problem. Because these TikTokers are narcissistic and cruel. But they too are born into a world that nurtures only one part of their existence: being a consumer. So, both ends of the stick point to imbalance of life, thought, and purpose.
In a perfect world, we would give both parties, the exploited and the exploiters, a chance to experience the life of the other side. Now, that would be something I'd like to see!
p.s. I'm working on a piece about all this disposable clothing and so am aware of the issue. And yes, I shop at used clothing for most of my gear. (not underwear and bras, lol)
