This sentence really got me, and I would assume that many of your readers who know the destruction of life that is alcoholism recognize this sentiment.

I have a sibling who has been drinking heavily since she was 15. The family could not pull together for an intervention. And I know I'm going to cry when she passes for this very reason.

It's an awful disease. Just awful.
