The stunning fact that evangelical christians are the one religious group that is growing exponentially in the US today makes me shake my head and cry. (But only for a minute.) There are so many open-hearted and loving communities springing up, that bring people together to discover their spirit and union with the Christ. (the Christ, which, as Richard Rohr points out is everywhere, in everyone and everything). So why would people stay in a punitive, regressive understanding of their souls and spiritual life? This is so strange to me.

I won't go over the many points you so well covered except to say that the hard-heartedness of evangelicals is akin to the Pharisees and Saducees. And we know what Jesus thought of them! ("Vipers!)

Women *should* leave in droves, but poor them, trapped in their fears. Peace out, my friend.
