Jesus Admonished My Dying Mother
Caring for a loved one in hospice home care can bring you into a swirl of wild emotions and daily anxieties about when “the end will come.” That, in league with the strains of medical care is, let’s face it, outside of what most of us normally do. And there can be additional foes, which may be family members or even the hospice team.
All of which eat away at the precious moments with your loved one.
I had all three, and it wasn’t wonderful. It was dreadful. Some of the time.
Because it was happening alongside my mother’s journey to her end of this life.
Mom made me laugh many times. She provoked me to examine my thinking on any number of matters. Sometimes I cried alongside her when she was in pain, or enjoyed holding hands when she was relaxed and at peace.
This new state of being, hospice, was her journey. I was simply on the sideline. When our loved ones move into the dying state, it is no longer about us.
