Much of what I learned was through my curiosity about demonic possession, during the last 7 years. (yes, I was provoked to this study by relatively recent events and people in our public sphere).
Fr. Malachi Martin, a Jesuit exorcist wrote a book "Hostage to the Devil" that refers to the St. Louis case. In addition, there are the six interviews Martin did with legendary talk show host Art Bell. I think it was interview #3 where Martin discussed these details, which I'd learned in other accounts as well.
