Beautiful essay on Peter's failure and redemption through Christ's mercy. I remember as a child being struck by Peter's three denials of Jesus while he sat around a fire with onlookers. The fear that took over Peter when confronted by strangers, not knowing if he, too, would be arrested and brought to the Sanhedrin for trial, is palpable. Even to a child. I felt sorry for Peter.
